Stylish & Green: 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

"That means a 333-horsepower supercharged V-6 from the Audi S4 and a 47-horsepower electric motor can be found underhood, paired by a decoupling clutch to allow each to run independently.

The Cayenne S Hybrid features a 'hybrid controller' system that coordinates the two drive units through the center clutch, enabling the SUV to be driven up to nearly 40 mph on electric power alone. As we mentioned in our First Drive article, the Cayenne S Hybrid can also coast on the freeway at speeds up to 86 mph using only electric power. The Porsche's infotainment display monitors power usage and alerts the driver as to which mode the Cayenne is running in -- combined gas/electric, or one of those two alone."

2011 Nissan Juke, time to turn heads in the crossover market

"There's no doubt the Juke will turn heads and split public opinion at both the New York auto show and when it reaches American roads later this year -- and that's just what Nissan wants. Lending the most credence to the Juke's sportiness is its drivetrain. A new 1.6-liter direct-injected and turbocharged four-cylinder makes its North American debut in the Juke producing "180-plus horsepower and 170-plus pound-feet of torque," according to the automaker. We hope to have exact numbers closer to the Juke's on-sale date. Regardless, the engine is mounted to Nissan's Continuously Variable Transmission as standard equipment, though if you skip the S trim level and move up to the SV or SL trims, you can get a six-speed manual.

Built on Nissan's Global B-Car Platform, the Juke will be among the smallest offerings in its segment. Despite that, it offers a high seating position for a commanding view of the road that's so popular in SUVs and crossovers, along with seating for five. More importantly, the Juke's key interior features have carried over to production. The motorcycle gas tank-inspired center console remains and is even painted, not just colored plastic. Above it, the Integrated Control System (I-CON) also remains. The system assigns two vastly different functions to the same controls depending on what mode you're in. In climate mode, the controls adjust the temperature, fan and other settings. Click it over to drive mode (D-MODE) and the controls re-label themselves and now adjust the vehicle's settings, allowing you to choose between Normal, Sport and Eco settings for the engine, CVT transmission and power steering.

To be class competitive, the Juke comes with a host of standard features. Steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, iPod connections, a six-speaker stereo and 60/40 flat-folding rear seats are all included. Key options include auto headlights, leather, navigation, a back-up camera, moon roof, heated seats, and an upgraded Rockford Fosgate stereo with a sub woofer and optional XM Satellite Radio and USB port. There's no arguing that the Juke will be a very unique entry when it hits the market. The nothing-else-like-it style and compact size have the potential to be big selling points or major turn-offs depending on the buyer, but on paper, it's a perfect fit. Though it would've been the smallest entry in our recent compact crossover comparison, the Juke has all the specifications necessary to run head-to-head with the pack. Does it deliver in the real world? We'll have to get the gang together again and find out."

Is the iPad over hyped?

Yes, I have full faith in my new phone the HTC EVO to do everything the iPad does and more. Yes my phone can do more, so why do we need the iPad? You dont! This is just simply marketing hype.

I graciously bow down to Apple when it comes to the iPhone (a genius concept, one of a kind and first one out the gate), but I am not drooling over the iPad. This is the first generation, so if anything I would wait for the Gen 3, that is usually when a majority of the kinks are worked out.

Let take a list of the reason why to STAY AWAY from the iPad, thanks to my homies @ 3fold (http://3foldcomm.com/ipad-overhyped-or-underestimated/)

* Multitasking: Seriously, Apple? You want to take on and destroy the army of netbooks, you have to include multitasking. For those who may not be familiar with the annoying one-app-only capabilities of the iPhone operating system, this means no listening to iTunes or Pandora while surfing the web. One thing at a time, such a quaint, and inexplicable, concept.
* Still no Flash. Again, you can’t take on netbooks without offering the most basic features users expect. Without Flash, you’ve removed important functionality from countless websites and denied users the ability to stream videos and television programming. Not cool.
* 3G unlimited plans will cost you $30 per month…at AT&T. Only at AT&T (US). Even the lack of a contract requirement and an unlocked product doesn’t make Apple’s decision to keep AT&T as the sole service provider easier to swallow.
* No camera. Not in the front, not in the back, no video, no still photography. Nada. All my dreams of having face-to-face staff meetings over Skype while sipping a latte at a Starbucks while the rest of the team looks on enviously from the office have been dashed.
* Too much pressure. The publishing and news industries are already looking to the iPad as their potential savior. Mac lovers had dreams of magical technology fairies dancing in their heads before the gadget was even announced. I’m sure there were even some that hoped the iPad would end the recession, create millions of new jobs, stop world hunger, and fix the environment. Alas, it will not be able to do any of these things…yet.

Bollywood soundtrack composer invented Techno in 1982??

Have a listen!!

*SERIOUS FIND HERE - 1982 PROTO-TECHNO MADE IN INDIA - AN ABSOLUTE TREASURE TROVE OF EARLY ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC THAT SOUNDS LIKE APHEX'S ANALORD TRANSPORTED TO EARLY 80'S MUMBAI - DO NOT MISS!* Charanjit Singh's 'Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat' is quite easily one of the maddest records we've ever had in stock. It was originally made in 1982 by a Bollywood soundtrack composer, intending to capitalise on the disco phenomenon with a combination of centuries-old classical Indian Ragas set to a disco backing. To achieve this Charanjit used a prototypical acid set-up of Roland TB303 bass melody sequencer and TR808 drum computer together with a Jupiter-8 keyboard. He basically created a sound which mirrored, and more importantly, pre-dated the first acid house record - Phuture's 'Acid Track' by five years, and even preceded Chip E's 'Jack Trax' in 1985. It's no throw-away novelty record either, instead capturing the hypnotic potential of acid music in the most ornate and scarily prescient fashion, making explicit the similarities of infinitely arpeggiated bass sequences and pure electronic pulses that would soundtrack dancefloors for the next 30 odd years. The more cynical among you will probably be thinking this is Ceephax or Aphex Twin delivering one of the most elaborate in-jokes of their career, but with the gatefold sleeve depicting the original sleeve and some in-depth liner notes from the label and Charanjit, our cynicism is waning in favour of absolute shock and awe. 'Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat' is vintage futurism of the highest calibre, and made all the more amazing by the fact it came from India, a place hardly renowned for its electronic output! This is a remarkable record and comes with our highest recommendation - AN ABSOLUTE FIND.

Dr. Dre, Jay-Z Single For Detox Dropping This Week?

After months of product placement with his Beats By Dre headphone line and spots in ads by Dr. Pepper and HP, it looks as though Dr. Dre's Detox album may be getting its first single this week.

According to the Twitter account of E! News' Michael Yo, the legendary producer will be hooking up with one of Hip Hop's premier artists for his first single: "Look for it this week New Jay Z and Dr Dre!!!" tweeted Yo.

Michael Yo later added that Interscope Records was "buzzing" about the as-of-now unnamed song. According to YouHeardThatNew.com, the track has been described as "up-tempo," and is indeed intended as Detox's first single.

Ice Cube Explains Why He Refuses To Work With New Rappers

"Why don't I produce up and coming rappers like I used to? I got burnt out. Niggas couldn't take the baton and run wit [sic] it. I was sick of babysitting grown ass men and walking them through the industry. I felt like Dr. Frankenstein building uncontrollable monsters. How? If you DON'T make 'em a star, they blame you. If you DO make 'em a star, they leave you. I got sick of that ungrateful shit."
